We are looking for a dynamic, charismatic and strategic sales leader to drive our growth from an emerging brand in three markets to a category leading, national brand. This person’s primary objective is to deliver short and long term revenue growth based on the company’s strategic plan. Deep experience selling consumer goods to retailers is essential for this role as is being deeply analytical to make data-based decisions. Natural channel experience and relationships with key retailers and distributors is preferred. Our sales leader will be responsible for building a results-oriented sales team focused on market penetration and channel expansion by targeting and launching key retailers in natural, conventional grocery, drug, and mass as well as key strategic partners like REI, WeWork and Starbucks. You will work directly with the CEO to develop optimal market development strategies and craft a national wholesale plan. This is a dynamic business development and leadership opportunity with long-term equity incentives to fully align and reward you. Ideally you would be Kansas City based but for the right person, a remote location would be considered as travel will be up to 50%.

Primary Responsibilities

Design & Implement Wholesale Plan and Strategy with Leadership

  • Deliver short and long term revenue goals
  • Market launch plans (6-12 month lead time)
  • Annual account plans (Promotions, ads, Field Marketing support)
  • Budgets (Promo, acquisition, travel)
  • P&L management, margin management
  • Pull and analyze data and commit to KPI’s (revenue, new doors, velocity)
  • Accounts receivable collection and credit management


Direct and Manage Third-Party Partners

  • Distributors (National and DSD)
  • Key chains (Whole Foods Market, Natural Grocers, etc.)
  • Brokers
  • Outsourced sales (Thrive Natural)
  • Vending (in-office micro markets and pantries)

Direct and Oversee Daily Execution with Market Managers
  • Coach, manage, support, hire, fire
  • Full understanding of markets
  • In-market training
  • KPI/OKR management


Lead In-Market Expansion and Sales

  • New account pitches
  • New market launches
  • Key account sales & management
  • Lead trade shows


Job Qualifications

  • Must have sales experience in consumer goods to retail chain accounts
  • Knowledge of retail selling initiatives such as category management and information-based selling
  • Thorough understanding of distributor operations and retail sales execution
  • CPG natural channel experience required
  • High level of expertise with analyzing information and problem-solving attitude
  • Genuine passion for health and wellness
  • 5+ years of experience, 2+ years management role
  • Excellent communicator who will carry our flag and win the day
  • Experience working within an entrepreneurial culture
  • Gaining and sustaining new distribution for new brands preferred
